All works are handcrafted in Belgium with attention to detail, from sketching the designs to manufacturing and finishing. The pieces of VAN KRIEKEN x LLUKAJ are characterized by the 'art deco' style with a modern twist. Due to the broad range of knowledge acquired during their studies, unique pieces are created accompanied by subtle messages and elements of surprise. Consequently, their creations are not merely jewels but actual ‘conversation pieces’.
In 2009 Anna van Krieken and Albi Llukaj met each other in Bruges. Soon it became clear that they shared a strong passion for art and science. Together they decided to study veterinary medicine at Ghent University. They had a particular fascination for the more delicate aspects, such as surgery and pathology. However, they missed an outlet for their creativity and craftsmanship. After graduating veterinary medicine with cum laude, they decided to make their dream come true. After the full-time course 'Jeweller-Goldsmith' at Syntra West Kortrijk, VAN KRIEKEN x LLUKAJ was established.
