HARMONIA AXYRIDIS

The art deco ladybug ring is inspired by the Asian ladybug which was introduced in Europe as a biological control agent against aphids. However, this invasive species poses a threat to the native ladybugs. When inspected from a distance, the ring might look like a classic art deco jewellery piece. Beyond closer inspection, you notice a ladybug carefully crawling on a plant stem. The 18k yellow gold holds a round faceted red ruby. The sleek legs hold tight to the ring shank. Underneath the ladybug, represented by a small oval-cut cabochon emerald, a small aphid is hiding from this predator.
